World of Warcraft Strategy Guide

WoW Warrior Guide

The Warrior class is one of the top melee dps characters you can choose to play.   Although they start with mail armor, after level 40 they are able to wear plate. This gives the warrior class an advantage over most characters when trying to level. They can slice and dice better than their rogue peers and they have better armor to withstand enemies. Warriors also have the advantage of being able to use just about any weapon except for the caster wands.

Warriors have a chance to play high damage, but they are mostly used as the main tank in party dungeons and raids. Without warriors, no group would last very long in a dungeon. They are also great PVP classes. Warriors can spec protection (the main tanking tree), arms (PVP spec), or fury which gives the warrior great dps for raids.

If you decide to raid, most likely you will need a tanking set. Most guilds need a tank instead of a dps warrior since dps warriors are very popular. Whether you want to be dps or protection, warriors can benefit from the usefulness of the blacksmithing profession. Blacksmithing allows you to make armor and weapons that you can use during leveling and in end game content. As you level, you will first create mail armor and later create plate armor. Blacksmithing mostly uses ore from mining, so mining is the best secondary profession to choose. If you don’t want to mine, you can always choose other professions, but it will be expensive to level your blacksmithing.

WoW Warrior Guide – Stances

One of the main points of warriors is their stances. Warriors get their first stance at level 10, and they acquire berserker. The stance for warriors is important especially in dungeons. If you are tanking, using defensive stance is critical to gain aggro and protect other members. Berserker stance will give the warrior higher dps but less defense.

When you start your warrior, you begin by having battle stance which is the basic 50%/50% defensive and offensive damage. It’s a good middle ground to level especially if you take multiple mobs at a time. Defensive stance will take you too long to level. Your damage is poor even though your defense is high. Berserker is great for lower mobs or mobs where you don’t need extra defense. The trick to being a good warrior is using your stances to fit your playing style.

WoW Warrior Guide – Popular Warrior Abilities

Taunt – One of the main abilities for warriors especially protection warriors that main tank instances and raids. Taunt will pull a mob off of your healer, which is probably its most important use. Taunt takes aggro off of any player in PVE play. Obviously, it does not work in PVP but in PVE it is a critical ability to save your part member from dying and taking equipment damage.

Mortal Strike – Talent that is used mostly for PVP. You can improve mortal strike through the arms tree, but you will be a less effective tank using this tree to focus your points. Mortal strike is great to inflict on other PVP players to limit their healing effects. One thing the warrior has a hard time dealing with is the healer such as a shaman that has resistance from melee through armor but can also heal. Mortal strike gives the warrior a way to limit the amount of healing that can be done on a given target.

Overpower – Counterattack that is especially effective on rogues. Rogues depend mostly on dodge, but if they dodge a warrior’s attack there is a chance for overpower to trigger. Overpower is a powerful blow that cannot be dodged or parried, so it can be the death of a poorly geared rogue.
