WoW Warlock Guide

Several players make the mistake of avoiding the Warlock class since its not considered to be a class thats very good at combat, when in reality, if this class is played properly, its a powerful class that can do a great deal of damage. If you're interested in changing the way you play a bit, this is a great class for you.

Although it's true that the Warlock isn't necessarily a class that's meant for close combat, they're incredibly powerful. In the game lore, the Warlock is a class that used to be a mage before turning to the dark side. They use demons, pets and spells to inflict enormous amounts of damage. When you're playing this class, you are going to want to focus more on the skills of stalking your enemy, administering damage over time and the favorite, good old fear tactics.

WoW Warlock Guide Intro

Once you have made the decision to give this class a shot, you are going to want to know some basics so that is where this WoW Warlock guide will start off. First of all, the Warlock’s pet is among its best assets. These pets function for a Warlock much like they do for a Hunter. They deal out close range damage and tank (take damage) for their master. This allows the Warlock to stay away from battle, casting spells, and avoiding harm.

If you like up close combat, this isn't a good class for you. However, if you like more of a strategy based, skilled method of playing the game, the Warlock will suit you very well. When you first start out, your Warlock will not be all that powerful, but as you level up, you'll increase in skill and experience. Once you can get a pet, the game will really change in your favor.

Once you reach level 40, you will get your first mount and this is the point that the game will really change in your favor. Soon, you will be able to get your own epic mount through questing, but the one you get at first is still incredibly capable.

Tools of the Trade

Because the Warlock Is not into close combat, your weapons are going to be your spells. It's vital to remember that once you cast a spell, you can't move. If you do change your position, the spell will fail and you'll put yourself in danger.
The main resource for a Warlock is their mana. This is used for a spell and will be depleted each time one is cast. However, unlike any other character, the Warlock has the ability to convert their HP into mana. This can make a big difference in the midst of a battle.

Picking a Profession

You are not going to want to waste your time on professions like blacksmithing, skinning or fishing. The best professions for a Warlock are herbalism, enchanting and alchemy. Tailoring is also a great choice since you will need cloths for your spell casting. It's a good idea to pick a very strong primary profession that will be supported by a secondary profession.

For instance, you are able to combine mining and alchemy to save money on the components that you’ll need for your spells. You can also combine herbalism and alchemy to make not only potions for yourself but others as well. This is probably the easiest way for a Warlock to earn money quickly.

Dealing with Pets

Pets are utterly necessary for the Warlock. Your first pet is an imp since Warlocks use demons as pets. Unfortunately, your first imp is pretty useless, but once you get past the tenth level, you will be able to upgrade to a better pet that will have more skills and will be able to dish out more damage.

The Voidwalker is the probably the most common pet for a Warlock since they are very good at taking damage. You’ll get this one early on in the game but a lot of players prefer to keep them around, simply because they're so useful. Later on, you’ll be dealing with the Succubus, Fellhunter, Fellguard and the Infernal. Most will take at the least one soul shard to purchase, and you will not be able to get them until you reach specific levels. In order to get an Infernal, you’ll need to find an Infernal Stone, so keep an eye out for this as you approach level 50.

Earning Money

The Warlock will need to use some different techniques to get gold in this game. Unlike other characters that can simply go grind a mob, your best bet is to focus on your profession. Players will always need healing potions and enchanted objects and you can do quite well once you get enough skill to start making the items that are quite rare.

WoW Warlock Guide Summary

Now lets put all the info in this WoW Warlock guide together. Now you know how to make money, how to use a pet, and what skills your Warlock will excel at. you are ready to get out there and start playing. It's important to note that your strategy is key to your success. Remember, the Warlock needs to combine the use of long distance warfare with a pet for the best results. The pet will absorb the damage and you will be able to stay back out of the fray.

Learning spells is crucial to your success too. There are three main types of spells that you'll be dealing with. The first type is called Affliction. These are the spells that will affect your enemies health and continue to affect them over time. This type of spell is very effective and very hard for your enemy to break.

The second type is known as a Demonology Spell. This requires you to learn the Ritual of Summoning in addition to other skills. Again, this is very effective in long range warfare and can completely disable your enemies.

The last type is called Destruction. You'll need to get a little more involved in warfare to use this spell, but as the name implies, it's quite effective. As you progress in skill level and experience, you'll have the ability to learn new spells that are more powerful. By the time you get to your end game, you should be incredibly well equipped to handle anything.

Even though the Warlock may not be a mighty warrior in the physical sense, they're a formidable class that can deal out plenty of death and destruction when played correctly. Take your time learning spells and enhancing your skills and you'll be able to make a character that becomes a legend in this game.
