WoW Priest Guide

Priests are the primary healers in the Warcraft game for both Horde and Alliance, but they are also one of the most fun classes to play for damage as shadow. The holy priest is one of the most desired healers in parties and in raids. Priests are fun classes that can take on any class even though they are limited to cloth armor.

Priests can be dps or healer.  If you plan to raid, then you will likely be asked to spec holy although shadow priests with their increase in mana for all party members has become a more popular class for dungeons and raids.  Holy priests have a variety of heal spells including large health renewal or heal over time spells and they even have group heals which are invaluable to parties and raids.  Shadow priests have shadow form that disallows the use of any holy spells (no healing) but they can do a ton of damage while bringing mana back to other players.

The spec trees for priests are holy, discipline, and shadow.  Shadow is the dps version of a priest, and holy priests provide enhanced heals.  Discipline is the tree that most players choose as the secondary skill point sets to enhance their defense.  Defense provides a lot of defense and upgrades to mana and spells to help make the priest a powerful fighter.

Professions for priests can vary.  Most cloth wearers, including priests, prefer tailoring since the armor you can make enhances spells and healing.  A great secondary profession for tailoring is enchanting since the leveling can be done from the products made from leveling tailoring.  Other options for a priest are gathering professions such as herbalism or even mining.  This would purely be for making money since it brings little value to the tailoring profession.

WoW Priest Guide – Priest Buffs

There are two major priest buffs for party members.  If you plan to play a priest, get ready for people to randomly whisper you for buffs.  The first buff gives the player added health.  Power of Fortitude brings more health to players and it can be upgraded with tree talent points.  Spirit is another common buff although to be able to cast spirit on members you need to put points in the discipline tree.  Spirit will help increase mana and health regen for party members and it brings a small amount of crit chance which dps players will appreciate.

Shadow protection is another less popular buff, but it can be essential for certain boss fights.  Shadow protection is also good for PVP since most warlock spells are shadow magic and it will protect against other shadow priests.

WoW Priest Guide – Priest Abilities

There are several different spells that benefit priests.  Most of the priest abilities are beneficial to entire parties or raids, which is why they are so useful during dungeon raids.  Not only do priest bring buffs, but they also debuff to keep certain harmful spells on party members.

Dispel is a popular debuff spell that not only removes harmful spells from friendly party members, but it can remove beneficial buffs from enemy targets.  Dispel can mean a win or loss for arenas as the priest can mass dispel at level 70 removing the beneficial spells on many players.

Mind control is probably one of the most popularly fun spells that is unique to the priest.  Priests can control an enemy player and use their spells for a little fun.  It’s especially useful in PVP to move players away from the playing field and you can even cause players to jump into lava or drown from swimming to low under the water.
